For true lovers of nature, space and tranquility Camping La Motte is situated close to the village of Montguyon in the extreme south of the Charente-Maritime where the departments of Charente, Gironde and Dordogne meet.
We have chosen to limit the new classification to one star, but if you want more you only have to look up at night. At La Motte the emphasis is on relaxation, not so much on entertainment.
Haven of quiet
At some distance from the crowded beaches on the Atlantic coast we offer you an oasis of tranquility from early spring until late fall. In an idyllic setting you can fully enjoy nature and really relax.
However, the campsite is also the ideal starting point for daytrips to some famous places in the area or even a day at the beach.
There are only 45 pitches on roughly 8,5 acres, all with electrical hook-up (10 or 16 amp), measuring 1600 to 2200ft². Of course you have choice between sunny and shady pitches.
Along one side of the lake and along our neighbor's vineyard you can find some chalets.
Video of the campsite
In the summer of 2018 a short video was made using a drone. The link leads to the video file on our Youtube channel where more short videos of our region are available.
Dogs - Veterinarian
Of course dogs are welcome at camping La Motte. For those on the way back to the UK you can make an appointment with our veterinarian for the mandatory treatment. They speak english and know what treatment you need. But you should best contact them for an appointment 2 of 3 days ahead. Since they are very busy it is not very likely to get an appointment for the next day.
Details of our veterinarian in the joint piece. Appointments can only be made by phone, not email unfortunately.
If your holiday destination is not the Haute-Saintonge or Charente-Maritime but further south, camping La Motte may still be a good choice to spend the night. The campsite is only 7 miles off the big Route National 10, the tollfree dual carriageway between Poitiers and Bordeaux.
On the N10 take the exit Montlieu-la-Garde and Montguyon. From Montguyon follow the signs for Saint-Aigulin (D730). In and around Montguyon the campsite is signposted but here under you can also download the small plan with english indications from the exit on the N10.
