Various walks in the area of which most start from the campsite
Starting from the campsite we have made descriptions for you of a few walks that vary from half an hour to almost two hours. You can find them on the next page as well as some pictures of what you may see on the way.
There are also various walks in the area about which the local tourist office in Montguyon will happily inform you.
Bicycle trips through the rolling landscape of the Haute-Saintonge
The quiet backroads all around the campsite are ideal for bicycle trips. Even with an ATB you will not have to search far to enjoy yourself. Some examples on the page "Cycling".
Some years ago an old railway that meanders through the landscape has been transfered into a 34km long bicycle path between Clérac and Barbezieux (see picture). The local tourist office in Montguyon can also provide a booklet with several trips.
Lac Beau Vallon
There are several possibilities to relax at the waterfron. At only 4 miles from the campsite you will find the locally wellknown Lac Beau Vallon. A swimming lake with sandy beach an open-air restaurant and cute little playhouses for the children.
Lac Beau Vallon is open from early May until late August. Parking and entry are free, dogs are only allowed on leash near the restaurant. We have also made a description of a few nice cycling routes to Lac Beau Vallon, of which you can download the most direct one as a pdf.
Within 10 miles of the campsite there are several riding schools that offer different tours. At Écurie Narolles at half a mile from the campsite you can let your children take a pony ride where you can walk along as a guide.
Piwelo in La Roche Chalais (10 miles) offers something similar for riders with some experience under the guidance of a professional. But there are even more options.
Hot air balloon flight
Try before you die, but in a quiet way
At least once in your life you should try a hot air balloon fligt. Even suitable for people with fear of hights since there is no connection to the ground (like on a ladder).
Unfortunately Brigitte Favre, whom I have assisted the last couple of years, has earned her retirement after more than 25 years of flying. She has flown in the national team of France and has won several prizes. The pictures are so beautiful that we still leave them on our website.
